About Behind The Bids LLC

Hi, I’m Molly Laughlin Doran, founder of Behind The Bids LLC. I am an alumna of The Woodlands High School, The University of Texas at Austin (BA, Government), and The University of St. Thomas - Houston (MBA). After living in Houston for many years, I now call Montgomery County home again!

After more than 15 years involved in sorority recruitment— as a potential new member, collegiate Membership Vice President, Chapter President, and alumna Advisor —I saw a clear need for real, honest preparation for one of the most meaningful experiences of college life.

When I went through recruitment as a PNM, I didn’t prepare the way I should have. I didn’t know how — and neither did my parents. I was at a disadvantage and did not receive a bid the first time I participated in formal recruitment. The following year, I found my home, and went on to become a chapter leader and long-time alumna volunteer.

I believe so wholeheartedly in the power of the sorority experience. Greek life shaped me into the woman, leader, and professional I am today. It remains one of the most meaningful and impactful experiences of my life.

Single-sex spaces matter. What other college organization puts young women in charge of six-figure budgets, teaches them how to lead peers, hold others accountable, and essentially run a business before they even graduate? Greek life does—and that’s something worth preserving and preparing for.

I know what chapters are truly looking for. Recruitment skills are life skills — preparation, communication, confidence, connection, and authenticity. Success begins long before move-in day; it’s about putting your best foot forward in the months and years leading up to recruitment, not just showing up and hoping for the best. The lessons Behind The Bids teaches last far beyond Bid Day and will serve you in internships, interviews, and your career long after college.

My background includes a decade of volunteer service to an NPC sorority, participation in more than 15 recruitments, and corporate leadership experience spanning small businesses and Fortune 100 companies. Today, I help mothers and daughters navigate the recruitment process with strategy and confidence — so they can maximize their opportunities and make informed, authentic choices.
